CM vows safe environment for US investment

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has promised to provide a safe environment for US investment in the province.
During a meeting with United States Ambassador Donald Blome, she said, ”Punjab has rich Investment potential in the fields of agriculture, industry and IT.
She expressed her firm resolve to capitalise on the long-standing Pakistan-US economic relations.
The chief minister said only a stable government can bring Pakistan out of the current economic crisis. ”The government’s economic policies are reducing inflation. We have devised a comprehensive strategy to provide quality education, healthcare facilities and cheap bread to the people,” she added.
”The provision of fundamental rights and basic needs to the people will be ensured at all cost,” sahe said.
The US ambassador said his country wanted to work more closely with the Punjab government for poverty alleviation and economic development.
The ambassador also called on Acting Governor Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan who noted that the longstanding Pakistan-US relationship is based on the principles of mutual respect and trust.
He said exchange of delegations between parliaments of both countries will prove instrumental in strengthening bilateral relations. The trade volume between both countries should be increased, she added.
He informed the ambassador that the government is progressing with a comprehensive programme to provide the public with health, education and other basic necessities.
He said Pakistan and the US should benefit from each other’s expertise in the livestock, education, health and trade sectors.
Ambassador Blome reiterated the commitment to continue to strengthen the US-Pakistan partnership.
He vowed to continue efforts to promote regional and international peace and prosperity.
“We will continue to expand people-to-people ties between the United States and Pakistan, including in the field of education,” he added.
