Gold rates dip by Rs500 per tola to Rs240,000

ISLAMABAD (APP) – The per tola price of 24 karat gold decreased by Rs500 and was sold at Rs240,000 on Tuesday compared to its sale at Rs240,500 on last trading day.
The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs 429 to Rs 205,761 from Rs 206,190 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs 188,615 from Rs 189,007. The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained constant at Rs 2,620 and Rs 2,254.80 respectively. The price of gold in the international market decreased by $5 to $2,317 from $2,322.
PSX witnesses mixed trend
The 100-Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed mixed trend, with a nominal loss of 3.04 percent, closing at 72,761.20 points against 72,764.24 points the previous trading day. A total of 621,826,404 shares valuing Rs 24.970 billion were traded during the day as compared to 578,388,643 shares valuing Rs 24.518 billion the last day.
Some 377 companies transacted their shares in the stock market; 200 of them recorded gains and 154 sustained losses, whereas the prices of 23 remained unchanged.
Rupee gains 11 paisa against US dollar
Pakistani Rupee gained 11 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 278.11 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 278.23. The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market, however, stood at Rs 277.50 and Rs 280.25 respectively. The price of the Euro decreased by 32 paisa and closed at Rs 299.11 against the last-day closing of Rs 299.43, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The Japanese Yen remained unchanged at Rs 1.80, whereas an decrease of Rs 1.12 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs 348.58 compared to the last closing of Rs 349.70. The Emirates Dirham went down by 4 paisa and closed at Rs 75.71 whereas Saudi Riyal was traded at Rs.74.15 showing decline of 3 paisa against rupee.
